A list of weekend Dates coming soon!!
Airfield Car control courses are designed to help both novice and experienced drivers.
These events, also known as limit handling courses, allow drivers to gain a better understanding of what happens to their car when over the limit of grip and how to regain control in safety.
The airfield used is RAF Alconbury in Cambridgeshire. We use a half mile section of the 60 meter wide runway. Courses are set out using small 6 inch cones so if you do run one over no harm should come to your car.
A standard day is run for up to 4 people with Ben Elliott being your instructor. Courses are set up on the runway that allow up to 3 cars to be running at any one time. There is no shortage of time for practice! There will be plenty of one to one tuition time.
Private days can be organised from one person exclusively to groups of 12. For group bookings please Email / call for details. Standard booking options are at the bottom of this page.
The objective of this day is to help drivers using the Trackday Instructor core principles of Vision, Technique and Pace. As a standard format the following topics will be covered. If there is one particular area that you wish to focus on then that can be worked into your day.
Understeer - Detection and correction techniques
Oversteer - Detection and correction techniques including advanced steering techniques
Vision - how to judge speed more accurately using the 'Point of Focus' and 'Owl Vision' Techniques. How and why these techniques improve your car control.
Vision - Corner visualisation in preparation for circuit / fast road driving.
Braking - Threshold braking / ABS Management, Heel + Toe braking, Trail Braking, Using a trailing throttle and Cadence Braking.
Pace - Putting your newly devolved / refined techniques into practice on the Circuit. Lapping quickly, consistently and how to analyse your own driving to improve further.
